First published in 1860, its language is at times a little outdated but all comes from a true pastor's heart. Austin Phelps (1820-1890) was an American Congregational minister who served as President of Andover Theological Seminary for 10 years. He wrote books that were standard works in his day, but The Still Hour, a devotional classic, remains his most enduring legacy.
