Here are two great Puritan volumes in one. C H Spurgeon entirely agreed with the commendation of Charles Bridges: 'I know no exposition upon a detached portion of Scripture (with the single exception of Owen on the Hebrews) that will compare with it in all parts . . . in depth, accuracy, and discursiveness.' By the last word Bridges probably meant 'argument and reasoning' rather than rambling. Davenant is immensely practical, a rare and wonderful skill when it comes to the personal conduct exhortations of chapters 3 and 4.
