This gripping book gives a fascinating, informed look into the life of a near-extinct tribe, the Maasai, in Kenya through the events of a young boys life. At an early age he becomes the victim of polio and reluctantly leaves the love of his heart cattle rearing to find help in a Christian mission hospital, then school. How he copes with this divided loyalty, struggles with success and temptation, and eventually turns to the Good Shepherd to the benefit of his tribes people is a very moving read.
