Hodge compresses so much into his commentaries. Always clear and understandable. Not much application, but his brevity in handling of technical and doctrinal matter is unsurpassed. Many pastors consult Hodge as a first-stop constantly. Hodge was Professor of Biblical Literature and later of Theology at Princeton Seminary from 1820 to 1878.
