The Covenant of Grace, – made between the members of the Godhead in eternity past, with all its provisions and obligations taken on by the Lord Jesus Christ, – secures astonishing blessings for those whom He saves. Richard Alleine movingly draws together all the benefits of this Covenant in lively prose that transcends its age. He begins by showing what each member of the Godhead is to us in the Covenant, and goes on to show the impact of the Covenant in giving us a new heart. Two chapters (14 and 15) were contributed by his brother Joseph Alleine.

Richard Alleine (1610-82) was a renowned Puritan preacher who suffered ejection from his church in 1662, ministering around Frome, Somerset from that time until his death.
