Publisher's note.

William Taylor (1829-1895), originally from Scotland, was pastor of Broadway Tabernacle, New York, for twenty years. This work on the life of David began life as evening messages delivered to his congregation.

The gentle but compelling style adopted by the author takes each event in David’s life, together with the psalms thought to be written at the time, and makes applications helpful to all Christians.

Taylor is unafraid to make moving gospel applications when appropriate, and this greatly adds to the usefulness of the book.
