Reviews mostly by Dr Peter Masters

This is a truly remarkable little gem adopting a brisk, word-by-word style of comment, and sparkling with fresh and challenging application. Some practical commentaries somehow manage to make the inspired writer say the same few things over and over again. They do not spot the distinctive pieces of counsel in each verse, or the deeper points. This book keeps the advice flowing brilliantly. Where the apostles arguments and themes become complex, this little work soars, masterfully crystallising the sense into a short form of plain words. First issued in 1978, this is an admirable commentary for all purposes. Its small size is totally misleading, for it supplies more help than many much larger works. Stimulating for message-preparers; good for group study and a perfect accompaniment for daily Bible study by readers of all ages.
