This is a most rewarding biography by a professor at Wheaton College, and it is certainly good to have the somewhat dispassionate approach of a scholar, although at times her view of Fanny Crosby's evangelical faith seems a little aloof. Nevertheless, the hymnwriter's life is full of surprising features and moving episodes. With many black-and-white photographs, and many references to famous figures with whom Fanny Crosby interacted, this highly informative book is most enjoyable.
